Second Level Page Chesapeake, Virginia marked the spot of the 5th Annual Kaz Kids Happy Day Celebration this August 27th. This year’s “Happy Day” celebration, with a Luau theme, included Snickerdoodle the Clown who entertained the children. But the biggest thrill for Juliana and her fellow “Frank” friends, was the presence of Elena Pogrebinskaya, the Frank Coordinator for Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, who was in the United States for a brief visit with Frank Foundation and her dear friends Susan, Hillie, Juliana and Juliana’s grandfather, Robert “Poppy” Elko. Elena was so touched by all the families who made their way to Chesapeake to see her and share the laughter on this very special occasion. “Happy Day” began five years ago, by long time Frank Foundation advocate, Susan Harris, as a way to celebrate/commemorate the adoption of Susan’s daughter Juliana. It has grown into a party to celebrate the beauty of adoption and all children in the Chesapeake area. Frank Foundation families, particularly those who adopted from Kazakhstan, look forward to this annual tradition as an informal reunion of friends. A special collection was taken to raise funds to help the children who remain in the orphanage of Ust-Kamenogorsk. This year, families enjoyed great entertainment, food, and company and celebrated wonders of family. Frank Foundation extends a special thanks to Robert Elko and the Harris family for opening up their hearts and homes to Elena and all the families united through adoption. We thank you for your dedication to all children, your compassion, love and friendship. You remain an inspiration to us all.
