Frank Foundation Awarded 10,000 ruble University Scholarships to Orphan Students in Novgorod State University
    
    Excerpt from “Plus one more scholarship” in “Arguments & Facts North-West” #32, 2003.
    
    “The students were awarded the one-time scholarships by Frank Foundation Child Assistance International. The students said they will spend most of the money on purchasing new clothes and textbooks, which they will need in substantial quantities.
    
    Besides the one-time scholarships, the orphan students have other “privileges”. For example, they receive free medical care, meals and discounts on school supplies. In addition to the one-time scholarship awarded for high academic achievement, the students receive a supplemental stipend, which is not dependent on their grades.
    
    Originally the 10,000 ruble scholarship was going to be awarded to young people who have been accepted to the Moscow Institute of International Law. While there were no students who qualified for this award, 20 freshmen at Novgorod State University received the scholarship.
    
    It is noteworthy that the partnership between Novgorod Region Department of Education and Frank Foundation has lasted more than 10 years. In this time a lot has been accomplished. For example, as part of Frank Foundation medical assistance program framework, free surgical operations have been performed on children who suffer from cardiovascular and cerebral disorders.
    
    It is a pleasure to know that children, who have been misfortunate and been denied parental love and care, can still feel that they are needed and surrounded with sympathy and nurturing.“
