Republic of Georgia
Upon the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, the Republic of Georgia gained independence for the first time in 70 years. This independence also brought many new hardships, and orphans in the Republic of Georgia were one of the hardest hit segments of the population. For more than a decade, Frank Foundation has been working to improve the quality of life for orphans living in the Republic of Georgia. Frank Foundation has given special attention to the home for disabled orphans in Kaspi, Georgia, including structural renovations, donations of food, clothing, furniture, bedding, and equipment, and medical care for some residents. Frank Foundation’s work in Georgia was recently honored by U.S. Ambassador Richard Miles at a reception in May 2005 at the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, where the foundation was praised for 10 years of humanitarian and educational work.
