Frank Foundation received requests from two women. Both are single mothers, whose difficult lives had been marked by dramatic and tragic events.
Anastasia Andreyeva and Pavlik
Anastasia Andreyeva lives on the outskirts of Moscow. She is only 21, raising a two- year old son Pavlik, who has problems with speech development. Fortunately, fears of Pavlik having child cerebral palsy did not confirm. Anastasia also has two younger brothers – Nikita, born in 1986, who is handicapped from birth and suffers from epilepsy; and Yury, born in 1988. Yury, who finished nine years of school and is not yet eighteen years old, takes care of his disabled grandmother who cannot get out of bed by herself. The parents of Anastasia, Nikita and Yury died tragically in a car accident in 1989. Anastasia was only four, and her brothers were very young. At that point their grandmother Valentina adopted the children. Now this family of five lives on their grandmother’s pension, Nikita’s disability allowance, and social aid for Pavlik. The total monthly income of the family is less than 5500 rubles. Rent and utilities cost about two thousand rubles, leaving a family of five to live on 3500 rubles a month. At the end of March 2006 Frank Foundation representatives provided this family with clothing: winter coats for Anastasia, tee-shirts for Nikita and Yury, and shoes and toys for Pavlik. Some of the most essential food items were also provided: grains, pasta, fruits, vegetables, canned goods, and juice.
Marina Kuzheleva and Marina
Marina Kuzheleva sent us a letter from the city of Korolev, Moscow region. Marina has two children: son Anatoliy, born in 1991, and daughter Irina, who is now four and a half years old. The girl has been diagnosed with “heavy organic affection of central nervous system with psycho-speech development delay and paraautistic syndrome”. Irina is a disabled child and needs regular care. Marina works as a chief engineer at a scientific research institute, but for the last year and a half she has been on unpaid leave. Sadly, in August 2004 Marina’s husband and Irina’s father passed away. Marina’s mother is also disabled and cannot work. Total monthly income for the family of four is 4200 rubbles. In the beginning of April 2006 Frank Foundation provided Marina and her son Anatoly with winter coats, toys, children’s clothing, and vitamins for little Irina. This family also received financial aid of 2000 rubles.
