An Inspirational Journey to India
"Given human beings' love of truth, justice, peace and freedom, creating a better, more compassionate world is a genuine possibility. The potential is there." –Tenzin Gyatso, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
In late November of 2006, Frank Foundation President, Dr. Nina Kostina and Vice President Michael Mazo, made a remarkable journey to India to engage in a fact-finding mission on the needs of the children of India. The three day visit left an indelible impression on both Dr. Kostina and Mr. Mazo as the conditions of the poor, nearly 80% of the population, were certainly among the most dire they have witnessed in their lives. A visit to the wonderful facility of the Tibetan Children’s Village, directed by the Dali Lama’s sister, Jetsun Pema, granted an opportunity to see first hand, the wonderful results of international cooperation and support. While needs still exist at the Village, it serves as a shining example of what can be accomplished with the support of compassionate individuals and organizations.
Frank Foundation hopes to collaborate with other international groups and local NGOs to help address some of the most pressing issues of the local children of India.
The highlight of the journey culminated with a meeting with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala. Dr. Kostina and Mr. Mazo received his blessings as they spoke of many topics, including possible joint projects in the future.
Frank Foundation Child Assistance International is most grateful to friends, Betty Williams and President Gorbachev, who encouraged the Foundation to extend its outreach and embrace the children of India.
